September 14th, 2012 - Friday - Cruelty

September 14th, 2012 - Friday - Cruelty - We get this card a lot lately, and there is one specific interpretation that keeps coming up for me.  It is the concept of cutting away baggage.  Cutting away egoic parts of yourself that are slowing you down. This isn't therapy.  This isn't talk about it and deal with it. This is rage.  This is cruelty. This is going after your weak spots with a sharp knife.  The bible has a line in Matthew 18:9 that works:  "And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell." Let's not worry about the being thrown into hell part, but let's focus on the concept of getting serious about cutting stuff out of your life (parts of yourself included) that are holding you back.  Look, a lot of people enjoy the journey... and will pretend to want to open, but what they are really addicted to is the journey.  They have no intention of arriving.  The Cruelty card in this case is all about getting serious about your life, and that is going to take some serious cruelty to cut away the crap.  Outside crap, INSIDE crap.  All that baggage you've been hauling around (and I've been hauling around) needs to go.  We need to just open our hearts and let it go.  Gouge it out if it won't go.  Get serious about it.  Sharpen your knives.  Slice. Slice.  Slice. (ow! It's going to hurt!)  Open your heart and feel every... single... cut....
