December 14th, 2010 - Tuesday - The Chariot

Today's card was the Chariot. Another Trump, which means it is part of the life path cycle. the Chariot simple message is to learn to keep your word. Make a promise today, and then keep it. Stephen Covey teaches that the surest way to build self confidence is to make 1 promise a day to yourself, and then keep it.

I'm doing an exercise practice with a friend of mine, and he has suggested that each day I wake up and decide ONE thing I want to do. And write it down. Something I want to accomplish. Think of it as a recipe. One thing I want to cook. And then each day, put that recipe in your pocket, and take it out every time you find yourself straying. Read it and think to yourself, what one thing can I do right now to get back on track to doing this recipe? And then do it.

So all of this is saying that to build focus, build confidence in yourself, you can write down little promises and do them, EVERY day. There are a lot of other practices in this area that can help you, foundational things not in the scope of the card, but it's a great little thing to think about today. I would encourage you for the next 7 days to write on a little piece of paper something you want to accomplish, and then do it. Start small. This kind of focus and promise making is what The Chariot is all about. (It's about a lot of other things too, but right now that is what feels right to tell you!)

And for all those who read this blog daily, if you ever have an experience with a card, email me and tell me about it. It's great to share insights and experiences. The cards never lie. That's what I've found out, but they often tell things in WEIRD ways. You can get a card that just doesn't seem to make sense, and then a few days later some aspect of that card will click, some unknown aspect even that you have to learn. It is kind of cool that way.

Okay, so we are caught up. I'll see you all tomorrow morning for whatever December 15th has in store for us.
