Saturday’s Moon returns!  What does it mean Basil?  The last shadow card in the trumps returns to tell us we are once again at the Gateless Gate.  The very last passage and it’s right before our eyes.

The moon is feminine…

That means lots of emotions and tides… being pulled back and forth.  There is swirl of illusion and deception…

This is the long journey toward death… toward the final release.  Consider the Salmon swimming upstream toward their spawning grounds…

That bear is the universe, and you are the fish.  You must return home, even against long odds (waterfalls, bears).  You have to be creative and flexible to find the way past that damn bear…

This is a very solitary journey.  No one can take it for you.  No one can take ANY journey for you, but more than ever before, you are truly alone in this final test.  All great people in the world traveled this path.  They went against conventional wisdom, swam against the stream, faced great peril, to achieve freedom.

Consider Buddha.  He left everything his entire Kingdom. He had enough of it!  It was time to get to the bottom of things, and so he searched, finally sitting down and saying: “I ain't moving till I figure this shit out!”  And that’s what he did. He figured it out, all by himself. 

Yes, I understand this looks a little crazy.  And this is just the Thoth Tarot card of the day… but in the big picture this card really makes sense.  It’s the final test of life to leave everyone behind, go on by yourself and trust the universe.

In Star Wars, Luke is heading down the trench of the Death Star.  His computer is whirling telling him when to take the final shot.  But he realizes that the test is to do it without the computer.  He shuts off the computer, surrenders to the universe.  He looks crazy. Stupid.  A true fool.  The only who tried it this way.

But that’s the way it works.  Luke takes the shot blind… and that’s how it has to work. You have to trust, because this life is really all about only one thing: SEEING CLEARLY.  Seeing what is, and seeing what is not.

The key to this card, and we got it reversed, is that in the domains of spirituality... we are missing something.  We are in conflict with ourselves over spiritual matters.  This means there is a truth we are 'aware' of (or should be aware of) but are on some level not accepting.  Interesting...

This is such a personal card.  Take a second to stop and think of your core personal values... and what you might be 'compromising' on today.  There are patterns to our lives... there are messages from infinite intelligence... Ask yourself:  What message am I ignoring?

The card has an additional message for you: If you are unclear on the what these messages are... all you have to do is take a walk, and ask the universe:  What are you trying to tell me? 

Ask for help.  

You will get it.

There is something interesting I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older.  I take more time to get going than I used to.  In the past I could just jump right into something and ‘bam’ I was off and running.  Sure… I’m an Aries so that moving quickly stuff comes easily.  But now I need a lot more warm up time.  If I put the time in… I get much better results.

What do I really mean, specifically?  If I wake up in the morning and do my meditations I feel better.  For me that is just sitting outside and feeling the sun on my face, standing in Tadasana. 

Or sitting with a cup of coffee and writing a bit.  Taking the time to walk the street doing my breath practice… taking the time to smile at my organs… paying attention to my posture.

Another thing is getting right up and writing this blog.  Thousands of people depend on this blog for daily insight and sometimes I put it off (like yesterday) and don’t even get to it.  I have a responsibility… and doing all my base foundational work before I get going makes a big difference to the rest of the day.

When I play football… I need to stretch. I need to exercise regularly.

It seems… a great deal of my day is preparing to do my day…

The Ace of Cups came up this Friday reversed.  Something we’ve idealized in our life is not actually panning out.  This is generally considered a new romantic thing, but it can apply to damn near anything.  Your life is in a way idealized. You have a way you think your life is going to turn out… And that is definitely not the way it will.  It might turn out better, it might turn out worse, but our ‘vision’ of things is rarely perfectly correct.

We always preach opening in love.  Breathing your heart open.  No matter what happens, we practice, we preach, we live it.  Open in love.  If some part of your life is revealed to be idealized today, and you feel disappointment… either in a person or thing… open in love.

Today you have a great opportunity and advantage.  The card is telling you that some part or person in your life is not what they seem… they might not love you as much as you love them… and so you are ready for that today.  It won’t be a shock. You won’t be laid out.

As we integrate the four core practices:  Seeing the Truth, Witnessing, Death Awareness, and Purity of Intent, we open to what IS.  And that’s what it’s all about on any spiritual path.  I should say that differently.  That is what it’s about on any TRUE spiritual path.  Today’s common spirituality is less about truth and much more about community and feeling good.   Which is fine.  We all like community.  But community is not where you find truth. 

Truth is found in the trenches, on your own, in a bloody battle of the soul.  No one can help you.

Some questions to ask today:

·         Do you love someone more than they love you?  The love you feel for someone might be one sided.  You might love someone more than they love you.  Take a look at that relationship dynamic.

·         Have you idealized someone?  Not seen their true self, but covered up their faults because you are emotionally attached?

Those are the two specific facets of this new love:  You are loving someone more than they love you, or you are idealizing the person or situation and not seeing the truth.

And today… in the trenches… you are ready to get bloody and find the truth.  Wouldn’t you rather know the truth than live in idealized blindness?  I am guessing if you are reading this blog you aren’t a stranger to bloody battles and aren’t afraid of them either.  You don’t come to the A Day in the Life of Tarot for comforting loving fluffy words.  You come for penetrating bloody truth.

So put the time in today, this morning and take a good long look at truth.  Do the work.  Breathe. Prepare.  The truth of love will find you if you take the time to see clearly.

May 23rd, 2013 - Thursday - Pleasure - I pulled this card yesterday but fell behind and didn't add it till today (Friday the 24th!).  What good is a card of the day AFTER the day, huh? Well it tells you where you WERE.  What you felt. Or what you were influenced by.  This day tells you that you feel sexual desire for someone and you are not afraid to go after it.  I wonder for how many of you that was true yesterday!

May 22nd, 2013 - Wednesday - Tower - Reversed... breakdown... There is a part of you that is being shielded by your ego.  A true path is ahead of you, but your ego is defending against it. Yesterday we learned your brain is lying to you, and the angels are working to help you.  Today... they are working harder to help you.

And things could great down till the message gets through to you.  This is good news!  It really is.  The Universe is trying to help you, there is a path here, and there is a way to go, and you need to surrender into it.  When you fully surrender, the crisis is finished.  

We are our own worst enemy here.  Today we need to surrender and Let Go.

This is a very blunt reading on this card today.  On a card with this much energy you want to remember something important: This is the card of the DAY.  Just for today…

This card is telling you that your thoughts are lying to you.  That’s pretty strong language.  Right now, ask yourself what your Mother’s maiden name is?  Got it?  Your mind just told you what it was, retrieved from your memory banks.

What if that wasn't right?

You might be saying, but it is. I know it. I remember it.  It sounds familiar.

But that’s what your mind is telling you… it’s SAYING this is the name, and it’s familiar.  What if it’s totally LYING?

What the Interference card reversed is telling us in no uncertain terms is to question everything.  Especially, question the conclusions you have made based on your thoughts.  Yes, the example of your Mother’s maiden name is extreme… but we've all met people who are absolutely certainly about information they have, and we know… they are wrong.  They don’t think they are wrong… but they are.

Today… that is YOU.   Your mind is against you.  It sounds funny, but it is way more common than you think.  Go to any AA meeting and you’ll hear people talk about how they have a demon inside them that wants them dead.  But the truth is, we ALL have these demons.  We all have multiple personalities.

Have you ever wanted a piece of chocolate?  And one part of your brain says yes, the other says no?  Bing!  Multiple personality.  You’re no different than the Greek Gods!

Why is it doing this?  Because the brain tries to fill in the gaps and make sense of things.  By doing this it lies a lot of the time.  Straight to your face.  Gemini Interference!

To me, the idea that my brain is lying to me is not a big deal. I study the brain, I study people, I see it all the time.  I attack my own ego and know it’s trying to keep me prisoner.  This is a real phenomenon that I see… But most people do not even contemplate the idea that their brain and ego is the enemy.  It makes them uncomfortable and they won’t even entertain the idea. 

Interference! 

I have a book recommendation for you: You Are Not So Smart by David McRaney.

This book is big.  It will shift your paradigms in HUGE ways.  It’s not a small thing. It’s a very challenging book.

I feel like today’s post has been HUGE. Lot’s of information, and I’m thinking… probably way too much information.  But let me offer one more thing before I recap and simplify this huge topic.

It’s possible… even probable… that the lies are being told to you from someone else.  Yes, we just spent the previous portion of our A Day in the Life of Tarot Aleister Crowley and Lady Freida Harris Thoth blog talking about lying to yourself.  And I know that is the information the angels and universe want conveyed.  But for some of you, they also want you to realize there could be some ‘external’ lying going on.  Other people could be putting you down and creating even more drama.  If this is happening… then here is the message: The universe is trying to show you very clearly that the path with these people is OFF.  Just watch. If drama comes up, if attack comes up, you will know…

We have come off our weekend of Truce and Wealth… into  worry this rainy morning here in Utah.  The Aleister Crowley and Lady Freida Harris Thoth Tarot card Worry is the 5 of Disks.  We got it reversed, which suggests some extreme anxiety.

This kind of emotion is no fun at all.  It is a Taurus Mercury energy, telling you that your worry is going to cause serious problems in your body, mind, and environment.   There is the hint that you could lose control here, the anxiety could overwhelm and you could literally need some help getting on top of these fears.

We need help!

So I think we talked about this before last week, while talking about Indolence.  When the mind gets going like this, and the energy gets stuck, and you feel overwhelmed, the key is to change the rails you are running on. 

I had an interesting experience that showed this to me that I want to share with you:  A number of years ago, during a time when I felt extremely anxious and overwhelmed and depressed, I would take these long walks.  For weeks, I had a knot in my stomach.  It was always present, a low grade hurt.  One particular morning, I was walking along thinking about the problems I had, when a snarling mean ass dog charged me from a neighbor’s yard.

This dog was angry, and charging me.  I immediately went into a defensive posture. I knew not to run, but I stood my ground ready to kick and fight if I had to.  The dog scared me, and came up close and savagely barked at me.  I was ready for war… the neighbor came running out and got his dog before I got bit…

As I stood there I realized something strange.

I felt calm. The knot in my stomach was gone… 

The dog attack had jolted my nervous system into a totally different track. I was stunned.  I realized at that moment how much I had been thinking about things recreating the anxiety and feeling of pain.  When I focused on something totally different… the pain went away. 

Now this is easier said than done.  A dog attack was pretty shocking and jolted me.  But for weeks before that I walked feeling anxious and couldn't stop thinking about it.  So the clue of this anxious card is to jump start your system.  Get out.  Do something different.  Run.  Yell.  Scream.  Do SOMETHING.

And that isn't easy.  When you are stuck, it can be hard to get the willpower and energy to get up.  But that’s just our minds keeping us paralyzed.  You actually do have the energy in your body… you actually do have the willpower… it’s just your brain on anxiety convincing yourself that you don’t.

The reality is your situation might not be great.  You had a vision of the way things were supposed to be, and it has not come to pass.  The ground under your feet is shaky.   Something good didn't happen the way you hoped or the way you felt deeply it would.  And this card is telling you yes, you have suffered a setback and your nervous system and brain pathways are going to get anxious.

So… the advice is to get moving.  Don’t sit still.  Even if you can only take one step… do it.  Force yourself to take one little baby step.  Get out of the mud one little effort at a time.  Everything will start going your way again… you are going to win this war… it’s just going to take a mental setback today as you battle yourself.

Our week ends with some serious temptation.  Yesterday’s Prudence has led to a high energy state of temptation.  We all know what can tempt us…

But this isn't about sexual temptation.  The cuts and stabs of life, the betrayals, can tempt you to do things you wouldn't normally do.

Look… we all want to wanted by others.  Sometimes I've heard this described as a weakness, but that smacks of stupid thinking to me.  Do people do desperate things for love?  Sure… but everyone has a basic inborn wired need to be wanted…  No one wants to be around people who don’t want you or treat you badly.  Scapegoat.  Pigeon Holed.  Aint nobody got time for that!

So my advice is admit it: You want to be wanted.  And if someone doesn't want you, fine.  Accept it and move on.  But don’t get all inauthentic and pretend you don’t want to be wanted.  Give me a break.  That’s a diversion in the argument.

The final warning is perhaps the most specific to the situation right now, to you in particularly, as a reader, if I've got my psychic hat on correctly.  That is the temptation of spiritual power.  That’s what I see going off a little right now.  We have some power, or there are people in our lives who have this power, and they are abusing it.

Flat out.

They aren't clean. 

And you have to watch yourself here.  It’s a war.  It’s a brawl. It’s a battle. And you got to stand up for yourself.  You know what is right, and the temptation is to give in to the awesome wave of power that the devil is going to use.

What is the devil trying to get you to do?  What is he tempting you to do?

Yep… the devil is tempting you today to doubt yourself. To doubt that you were right in the face of the wave of massive spiritual power that is being wielded incorrectly against you.  Stand firm.  STAND FIRM!

This is the time to trust yourself completely and let go.  Remember the Prudence card yesterday… It advises you to relax and let go.  Today… the Devil card tells you that you are going to be tempted to grab hold of the reins again and get back into the soup pot, and doubt yourself.

This is a perfect, pivotal time.  I love it.  Here you are, faced with this temptation to doubt your inner most feelings.  They tell you that you are right… that you have been wronged, and that it’s okay. No big deal.  But the compromise is right there, you can cave in… give up on what you know and accept the labels of ingratitude, entitlement, and selfishness someone has put upon you.  It’s not correct.  You aren't those things, and you know it.

But ah… the universe is tempting you to give in…

Good morning and welcome A Day in the Life of Tarot – a daily reading of the Aleister Crowley and Lady Freida Harris Thoth Tarot deck.  Today we pulled the Indolence card, and we pulled it upside down.   Opps… yesterday we came from a very stable position and today we kind of went off the rails.

Yes we did… this is one of the deepest, depressed positions in the entire Tarot.  Deep stagnation.  This is the kind of depression today that you are going to need help with. 

This is a cups card, so your emotions are feeling stuck… but the key to this card is simple. 

Movement.  

The emotions are so thick that moving the body is the only choice.  You can’t think your way out of this, or philosophize your way out.  Eventually you can use tools, breath, and analysis, and talking.  But right now, get up and move!

After you take your walk everything is going to feel better.  Just move.  Do it now.

I took a walk, and asked the universe what it wanted out of this.  This depression, this stuck.  What is supposed to come of it?  Being stuck might not be a window through to better things… it might just be getting stuck.  It might just be the universe saying movement is necessary.

You can translate that in a certain way.  Are you stuck at a certain job?  Are you stuck in a certain relationship?  Are you stuck in a certain dynamic with a group of people?  This is what it’s talking about today.

And the answer is… movement . Move away from that job, relationship, group dynamic. 

Unfortunately… you might really love that person, job, or group, but the signs are saying something ain’t right here.

It’s important to be sure.  On one hand, it could be just some ups and downs you are going through… and that you should stick it out by learning new skills.  On the other hand, this could be the repeated push from the universe to move away into something different.  Which is it?  

That is the question.

Friday is here at last, and this week of deep disappointment ends with a grounding note and a clear masculine Taurus energy that promises good thing to come. 

We burned our forest this week, didn’t we?  Cleared out some underbrush that was impeding our progress.   We lit fire to the prairie and watched it burn.  Now the land is laid bare, and clear, and ready for planting.  We can move freely through the forest and the plains and see clearly with the Queen of Swords, and grab the tiger with the energy of the Princess of Wands.

We also have a resonant energy of Emotion along with us… hiding behind the Knight of Wands, our earthly savior and manly protector is the Queen of Cups.

This angelic woman of prophecy and vision is underneath our Masculine Knight.  What a strange pull!   The vision of prophecy reveals the power of emotions.  Today we will feel other’s people’s dreams, hopes, and fears.

And our Knight of Wands tells us to let go and don’t you dare fix anyone today.  Today… you work on your own visions. Your own prophecy.  You work on your own land, on your own family, on you own spirit.

This double card revelation is powerful.  We are grounding our visions in reality.  We are grounding our art in our family.  We have let go of our disappointments… we have grabbed a new energy and are settling into that.  We avoided letting our fears create resistance to this new beginning…

Today the cards reveal the depth of our spiritual emotional vision coming forth in fertile ground, cared for responsibly.

This is a day to feel your dreams, feel your prophecy, walk, and pull those dreams and emotions into your grounded earthy heart… and watch over them with gentle care and steady hand.

Good morning fools… how are you all doing?  The readership grows!  More and more people come to listen to this wise fool blather daily about what the Tarot Cards mean for them in their life that day… You’ll notice that along with the information imparted to you my kind friends there is also a bit of a discussion on opening and how to live more heart centered.

That’s a big assumption on my part:  That the patterns and flow of energy are cruising you along toward a more and more open loving life.  That the ultimate meaning of these cards are sign posts along the way toward love.   I’m not talking romantic love, or emotional love, or new age love.  I’m talking about oneness.

That’s how I define love.  When you realize we are all one being projected on the movie screen of life.  Ultimately we are using the Tarot cards to ‘dissolve’ our differences and merge more fully from the appearing characters we play into the under lying reality of one.

But I’m assuming here… you might not want that…. You might just to know whether today is going to be shitty or not…

And that’s fine too.

Today we pulled the Fool Card Reversed, and that means there is CHANGE out there, new and wonderful magical change and you are being warned to be careful: You might resist that change out of fear. 

There… for those who like it short, that’s all you need to know.  But for those who like it long… Well there isn't really anything more to say, is there?  For me I asked myself what ‘change’ is it that I’m resisting.  That’s a good question.  As complexly written character on the screen of life in this Matrix, there are a lot of changes coming my way on a daily basis.  Some are changes I want, some are changes I don’t.  So what specifically is this change that is coming that I’m resisting out of fear?

The answer from the cards is that whatever it is… we need to accept it.  This is good change. It probably doesn't look like good change though… or why would we get this card?  That suggests the change might not be what we were initially hoping for.  Seeing as how we got the Queen of Swords yesterday, and that means we were finally starting to really see clearly what was true and wasn't... this upside down Fool makes a lot of sense.  Seeing clearly we have a lot of freedom, even though we suffered some pain by seeing this truth.  Things weren't what we thought they were… were they?

And today clear seeing leads to new journeys, new adventures… new magic. How can it be otherwise?  Once you see clearly, everything else falls into place.  But the only thing that can go wrong is if we resist.  Ah… it feels like it is coming together, doesn't it?  We can feel into that resistant part of our bodies, and that will tell us the change that scares us.

Of course it scares us.  This has been a week of disappointment.  Deep deep disappointment.  This hasn't been a week of joy and happiness.  The things and people we held dear turned out to disappoint us.  And faced it, we accepted with Princess of Wands excitement… and we came to clarity.  This has been a boat load of pain and swirl. 

So what are we going to do?  We are going to jump in the new direction of freedom our disappointment has revealed to us.  And it’s probably going to be a bit scary… hence… the Reverse Fool… hence… our resistance to change.

One hit I’m getting, putting on my psychic hat, is this: do not underestimate your resistance to change.  It could be bigger and deeper and more malicious than you think.  Be vigilant today.  Breathe open.  Let the change happen.  Step into your fear.
